Cliff Lowe Associates redesigned the existing courtyard, along with several light wells, for this residential building near the San Francisco Flower Market. The redesign was to provide private patios and an attractive common area at the center of the complex.
Lush plantings, natural granite cobbles and woven wood screens frame a central hardwood deck. Existing bamboo in painted steel planters was integrated into the new layout and a unique fountain was designed with eighteen-foot stainless steel rods and a single three-inch thick slab of green slate.
